Jon Favreau Talks Iron Man 2 Villains

mandrin1 Iron Man director and overall cool person Jon Favreau answered some of his fans questions on his Myspace (see I told you he was cool). In one answer he spoke about who the villain or villains could be in the sequel (the sequel he is not yet sign on for).

The Mandarin is Iron Man’s nemesis and will be incorporated in the sequel. It’s true that I am apprehensive about how he is to be presented. In the tech based modern world that we created for IM, a Fu Manchu style villain with magical/alien tech rings would seem out of place.

There were early drafts of IM where the Mandarin was the main villain, so we’ve already explored the character to some extent. I am curious to see how he has been treated in his latest books and how that might influence our direction.

He also spoke about Obadiah Stane, the bald bearded dude played by Jeff Bridges who eventually became Iron Monger. What he says is rather spoilerish but due to the fact that Iron Man has made nearly $550 million worldwide I’m going to assume everyone reading this has seen it and knows what happen to him.

Stane’s death? Do characters ever really die in Marvel? Isn’t it like a soap opera?

Shocking revelation if I do say so myself. The fact that Favreau has time to post on his Myspace means that he has free time…free time he could be spending getting a deal sorted with Marvel!

  • Iron Man costume is cool

And I wonder what Mandarin's outfit will look like?

I'm really glad they are considering to change him up from the Ancient China theme with the dragons and stuff, it would indeed look odd.

lol@ your free time comment, Indeed! Better hurry up because I am anticipating!
