No Joker in Batman 3

The Joker Batman 3The original plan was for The Joker to appear in The Dark Knight and its follow-up, with Heath Ledger signed up for a third film. Obviously that won’t be happening now following Ledger’s tragic death; however there has been talk of The Joker possibly being recast or appearing in Batman 3 in some form.

Personally I didn’t think Christopher Nolan would consider recasting Ledger’s role, and he recently confirmed that The Joker will not be appearing in the next film.

From the latest issue of Empire Magazine (via ObsessedWithFilm)

“No”, says Nolan emphatically and unhesitatingly. He resists elaborating simply because, quite understandably, he says, “I just don’t feel comfortable talking about it”.

At least it’s official now so people can stop speculating.

Who should be the villain(s) in Batman 3?

    If they would've recasted the Joker, I think Nicholas Cage would've been a perfect option.

      As much as I love Nicolas Cage, recasting should not even be put into consideration. I agree with Coolio the role dies with Ledger. I doubt anyone would want to be recast as the Joker.

    Nicholas cage isn't good enough an actor. Michael Keaton ten years ago would be nice. still i think the role dies with ledger. No one would want to risk the most lucrative Batman story's legacy with such a risky and unnecessary move. I'd look to an unusual, unpopular choice since this will be the last film. They won;t open a can of worms with an iconic villain like penguin or catwoman. I'd love to see Harvey Dent/ Two-face come back.

      Michael Keaton played Batman not way he could play Joker when he played Batman it will look stupid if he played the Joker.

      i dont think the Joker should died cause of Heath death to be honest. but i do want to see a new villain in Batman 3 hopfully Black Mask

      Yes I think the Riddler will suit the venture into the next movie, however the riddler won't be portrayed as in the comics, I think he will be darker and more of like the Jigsaw type from SAW, I think Johnny Depp should play him.

          How can anyone but Jim Carrey play the riddler. yes it couldnt be the same riddler, but still, jim carrey has what it takes to play a dark riddler. not necessarily disagreeing with depp though, he could play just about any character hero or villain, i'd love to have him

    if they did make another movie with joker they should have harley quinn in it. seeing the dysfunctional relationship with those two would be great in a movie.

    I’m sorry, but Johnny Depp just would not do it justice one bit. He’s been played way too many “psycho scary weirdo” roles, anyway. It’s getting old. It would just feel like Johnny Depp being Johnny Depp.

    But of course Christopher Nolan is uncomfortable talking about it. Heath Ledger is just being hidden somewhere and is going to make a grand-reappearance so the third movie will be even more epic and it’ll shoot through the roof of the box-office. Duhh. (JOKING! :D I wish.)

    If anyone were to pull of a heath-esque looking joker even for silent scenes and maybe edit in some of his maniacal laughter fro the dark knighti think the closest and maybe best actor who could do visuals and actually pull it off would be Michael wincott he is pretty similar to heath build wise and with makeup on his face well that could have worked
