According to Deadline Jim Carrey is in talks join the cast of Kick-Ass 2. Nothing is certain just yet and it may fall through, but it’s a great idea and one that will hopefully work out.
Carrey is apparently being eyed to play the role of The Colonel, an important supporting character who “helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil.”
Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are returning, and Nicolas Cage is set to make an appearance in a cameo role (flashbacks probably).
The film will follow Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass 2 comic which first hit shelves last October. The story follows the main character Kick-Ass (Johnson) who is trying to form a team of real life superheroes, as well as preparing for the arrival of The Red Mist (Mintz-Plasse), who has been gathering a team of “Supervillains” to take both Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl (Moretz) down.
Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is producing, and Jeff Wadlow is directing from a script he wrote.
If Carrey signs on it won’t be the first time he’s appeared starred in a superhero movie as he previously played The Riddler in Batman Forever.
