Molly’s Game is a biographical drama that follows the crazy life of a woman who for a decade ran the world’s most exclusive underground poker game.
“Molly Bloom a beautiful, young, Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by 17 FBI agents wielding automatic weapons. Her players included Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob. Her only ally was her criminal defense lawyer Charlie Jaffey, who learned that there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led us to believe.”
Okay, Molly’s Game looks great and after this trailer (could have been shorter, maybe show less) I’m definitely all in. Bad puns aside, it sure seems like Jessica Chastain might get her 3rd chance at an Oscar after losing twice so far, first with The Help in 2012 then Zero Dark Thirty the following year. And since Aaron Sorkin is behind this one, you know the Academy will eat it up, which puts Jessica Chastain in a good position for next year’s Oscars.
Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin, who penned The Social Network, Moneyball or Steve Jobs, wrote and directed Molly’s Game, this being his feature directorial debut. The movie is based on the real Molly Bloom’s memoir titled ‘Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker’. Besides Jessica Chastain also starring in this are Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Chris O’Dowd and more.
Molly’s Game opens in the US on November 22nd.
