Deadline reports that Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men: First Class, The Hunger Games) will team up with director David O’Russell for a third time for his upcoming project, The Ends of the Earth. The film is a fact-based drama that chronicles the life of Ernest Marland, an oil tycoon who lost everything when he was caught in the midst of an affair.
Lawrence has achieved critical acclaim and Academy recognition for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, for which she has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category.
The Ends of the Earth producers, Todd Black and Steve Tisch are quite rightly full of praise for their leading lady:
“Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most versatile actresses we have ever seen. Her performance in Silver Linings was transcendent and was truly the heart and soul of the film. Jennifer was basically asked to play 4 personalities — depressed, sexy, romantic and a wild dancer — and did them all brilliantly. After seeing that performance we knew we had our anchor for Ends Of The Earth. Her dedication to the craft and all those who work with her is inspiring and if she is the future of our business we are certainly in good hands.”
Jennifer Lawrence recently signed up to another, as yet untitled, David O’Russell project, which will see her re-team with her Silver Linings co-star Bradley Cooper.
The actress will be seen later this year in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, where she will be reprising her role as heroine, Katniss Everdeen. It is the sequel to 2012’s blockbuster The Hunger Games and based on the best-selling novels by Suzanne Collins.
Filming for X-Men: Days of Future Past is due to commence in April 2013 with Lawrence returning to her role as the shape-shifting mutant, Mystique. Peter Dinklage, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore will join her.
