Here’s a fun story. Vulture is reporting that Jeff Bridges has been offered the lead role in Universal’s new comedy Dirty Grandpa from the mind of John Phillips, the writer of the upcoming Bad Santa sequel. The plot is pretty simple: it surrounds “a soon-to-be-married uptight grandson who is tricked into escorting his lascivious and recently widowed former Army general of a grandfather to spring break in Florida.” But that’s not all! Universal also has another actor in mind in case Bridges passes on the project. Hit the jump to find out who it is.
If Bridges – who seems like he can play just the right amount of dirty, skeevy, and old combined – decides to head for greener pastures, the studio evidently wants Micheal Douglas to step into the title role. I obviously haven’t even seen the movie yet, but I already want a sequel in which both of these guys play dirty grandpas and have to out-dirty each other somehow. In all seriousness though, if Michael freaking Douglas is the backup choice, I think these filmmakers are going to be just fine.
Sounds like a fun movie to me – what do you think?
