We’ve known for a while that X-Men: Days of Future Past would partly take place in the 1970s, roughly 10 years after the events of X-Men: First Class. We assumed the costumes would reflect the trends of the time, and that is indeed what director Bryan Singer and costume Louise Mingenbach have done. Say hello to a very 70s Charles Xavier complete with long hair, beard, and violent pink shirt.

James McAvoy has previously mentioned that his younger version of Xavier “is going to be in a dark place” during the film, and he expects the character will continue to evolve into the wise leader we saw in the original X-Men films played by Patrick Stewart. There are still some crazy times to be had before that though.
X-Men: Days of Future Past stars Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Daniel Cudmore, and Omar Sy. Filming is currently under-way in Montrealand 20th Century Fox has set a July 2014 release.
