Here’s the scoop:
X-Men‘s James Marsden is the latest cast member to join Will Ferrell & Co. in Anchorman: The Legend Continues. While plot details have been kept largely under wraps, sources tell Deadline he’ll play a rival anchor and nemesis to Ferrell’s Ron Burgundy in the sequel.
Marsden most recently flexed his comedic muscles in last year’s Bachelorette and played Liz Lemon’s love interest Criss Chros on NBC’s 30 Rock.
Marsden is best known for his role as Cyclops/Scot Summers in the X-Men trilogy, though his comedic pedigree has flourished in recent years thanks to the success of films such as Enchanted, Death at a Funeral and 27 Dresses.
He joins an all-star cast that also boasts Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig, Steve Carell, Christina Applegate and David Koechner. The film is directed by Adam McKay and due for release in the US and UK on 20th December 2013.
