James Cameron says Terminator has ‘run its course’

arnold schwarzenegger terminator Last week we learned that an investment advisor called Pacificor had won the Terminator rights at auction, beating the likes of Lionsgate and Sony. This means that we can expect more Terminator movies in the future, as Pacificor will no doubt want to get their money’s worth out of them.

The auction was followed by buzz that William Wisher, writer of the first and second Terminator movies (the good ones) has written a treatment for Terminator 5 and 6. This would be cool if something became of it; however it’s still early days yet. Even if the original writer returns to the franchise, James Cameron made it quite clear to MTV that he wouldn’t be.

Where do you want the Terminator franchise to go from here? Should it die? Do you want a reboot, or did Terminator Salvation leave you wanting a Terminator 5?

I don't blame him, but damn it would be good if he did take on a new Terminator movie. But who'd want to deal with Pacificor?

In any case, Cameron is kind of going back to a Terminator style movie with Battle Angel. She's basically a female Terminator really :D

I dont think he is saying that at all. You seriously are taking things out of context. Stop being such a douche. Also you ‘high brow’ people who think AVATAR sucked well you know what…. It did what films are suppose to do. It reached a mass of people it created a massive shared experience that most enjoyed. The Academy should recognize such an achievement. You dont make 2.3 billion dollars unless you have something special.

I'm actually glad to hear this. Maybe Cameron can fully channel all his cyborg obsessions into Battle Angel (aka, the film the whole world wants to see.)
