I’m sure everyone is familiar with the recent Chinese earthquake, and its ever rising death toll. Well, Jackie Chan has already donated $1.4 million to those who need it, and is now planning to make a movie of the earthquake to raise money for the survivors. Chan is apparently meeting directors and scriptwriters to get the project off the ground.
“I want to make the movie about the earthquake because there’s so many touching stories,” he said. “Twenty channels report a different story and every story I see just makes me cry.”
“I believe there are so many touching stories so we’re going to have a big meeting to see what happens,” he said, referring to his discussions with film-makers. I want through the movie to show the whole world, I really want to salute the whole army of China, really.”
I respect his efforts and can see he has good intentions, but don’t the survivors kinda need stuff now?
[Jackie Chan to survivors]: Hey, we will provide money to rebuild this entire neighbourhood and provide you with food and everything you need…after we’ve had weeks of meetings, a further month or two to get financing, 3 months of pre-production, a further 5 months of filming and the there’s the obvious post production. If all goes well you’ll get your new house sometime near 2010…that okay?
Just give them what they need now I say.
