To avenge the death of his daughter, killed in a bombing, a restaurant owner with military training takes matters into his own hands in The Foreigner.
Jackie Chan doing what Jackie Chan does best starring alongside a former 007 in a movie directed by the man who successfully reintroduced the James Bond franchise twice in 1995 and 2006. Regardless of what was in this trailer, that’s a very promising combo. Now sure, Jackie Chan is looking considerably older here than in the past, but then again so was Liam Neeson in Taken, and that turned into a very successful series. Not that I’d want The Foreigner to follow suit, one hopefully good movie is enough here. Although it would be pretty great if we got more action films like this one with Jackie Chan, so if you think The Foreigner looks like something you might enjoy, definitely check it out in theaters. And yes, it does seem quite similar to Law Abiding Citizen, but also different enough thanks to Jackie Chan.
The Foreigner was directed by GoldenEye and Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell with a screenplay written by David Marconi, based on the novel ‘The Chinaman’ by Stephen Leather. Starring in the film are Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan.
The Foreigner is set to open September 30th in China and October 13th in the US.
