J.J. Abrams grants dying fan’s wish

star trek into darkness Image A few years back a film called Fanboys was released about a group of friends trying to steal the rough cut of the upcoming Star Wars movie to show their terminally ill friend. Now the same thing is happening in real life, but instead of Star Wars it’s Star Trek, and instead of a group of friends showing the terminally ill man the movie, it’s J.J. Abrams.

The man’s friend posted on Reddit asking someone to help him see the 10 minute prologue which he had planned to see before The Hobbit, but it was a showing without the prologue. Word eventually got around to J.J. Abrams who arranged a private screening for the man.

The man’s friend posted again on Reddit after the ill man and his wife saw the still to be completed film talking both about how grateful they were for the gesture and how much they enjoyed the film. It’s pretty refreshing to hear a story as uplifting as this, my props to J.J. Abrams and Paramount for letting this happen; sometimes people in reality are kinder than fiction.
