Last year we heard that Paramount had picked up the rights to Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel, a graphic novel-picture book which tells the story of the world’s first robot, who, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, fought alongside Terry Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia, journeyed to the South Pole and was involved in the silent movie business before disappearing on the battlefields of World War I.
Now Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot production company have hired JD Payne and Patrick McKay to write the script.
The writing duo recently worked on Goliath, a new take on the David vs. Goliath Biblical tale from Relativity Media which could star Dwayne Johnson and Taylor Lautner.

This is definitely an interesting project, one to keep an eye on as it develops.
