A look at Hit Girl from Kick-Ass

hit girlEmpire got an exclusive photo of Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl from Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass.

Mindy’s a pre-teen assassin who’s been trained by her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) since the age of four. “Think Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman and Uma Thurman rolled into one. She’s an 11 year-old and she’s the ultimate assassin. She kills, I think, 20 people in a minute.”

The fact that an 11 year old girl decapitates people (along with other things) meant that studios were not keen on financing it, which lead to Matthew Vaughn raising $70 million to make it himself. Apparently the studios wanted to make it more commercial by turning Hit Girl into an 18 year old love interest, but Vaughn wanted to be faithful to the source material.

Kick-Ass will be releaed later this year (finding someone to make it was a challenge, so finding someone to release it must have been just as difficult.)

You know, the weird thing is that this is a non-serious movie that isn't trying to be realistic. Yet this little girl has a more "correct" grip on that weapon than I see in most movies that ARE trying to be realistic. She is even practicing proper trigger discipline. How strange…

Looks like that saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks is correct as it seems younger people absorb training better…

I had the chance to go on set last November and she said she had to do lots of gun training etc. It should be interesting to see her kick some ass.

      We need a trailer!

It cost me £100 to get there (train and London Underground) but it was worth it.
