After a preview was released earlier this week, Adele’s Bond theme for Skyfall has officially been unleashed (at 0:07am UK/GMT time). It’s definitely the best theme of the Daniel Craig era (although some will still prefer Casino Royale), and will be enjoyed by those who loved Shirley Bassey’s classic themes from Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.
The six-time Grammy Award winner co-wrote the song with producer Paul Epworth, who previously collaborated with Adele on her single Rolling in the Deep, and the hope is for the song to be one of the biggest selling digital singles of the year.

“I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for ‘Skyfall,’” says the musical artist. “There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I’m sure!”
Skyfall opens October 26 in the UK, and November 9 in the US.
