Harry Potter And The Final Two (Or Three, Or Four) Films?
There’s been a rumor going around this weekend that has some people pretty excited. Depending on whom you ask, the remaining two Potter films may not be just two films at all.
Supposedly, the crew of Half-Blood Prince was told over the weekend that the last two films will be split into FOUR films. Or that the last film would be split into TWO films. Something along those lines. The reports are varying at this point.
But the bottom line is that we’re getting either three or four more films before the Potter franchise sees its end. From a business perspective, this is a great idea. It extends the franchise (and its monetary gain for the studio) by a lot. These films are currently the highest grossing franchise of all time…this decision will help the movies keep that title for a long time into the future.
Also, from an entertainment standpoint, it ain’t so bad either. People eat up the Potter movies like crazy. Of course they’re going to love more films. Especially because the source material for the final two books are so massive, it might make more sense to spread out the plots over a few more films. Granted, Order of the Phoenix was a damned long book, and they managed to squeeze everything into the shortest (and by far my favorite) film of the franchise.
But pulling a Kill Bill move like this ensures that almost every last detail makes it into the films.
Of course, at this point, this is still just a rumor. But, I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this as we get closer to Half-Blood Prince’s release date.
