Earlier this year, a video of a video game was making the rounds around the Internet. In said video, it showed the Ghostbusters kicking all forms of ass. After much speculation, rumors of a Ghostbusters video game could neither be confirmed nor denied.
Until now, that is.
Game Informer recently showed the new cover of their December issue, seen below, and it seems to confirm the thing we fanboys have been hoping for. The Ghostbusters are back.
Although the magazine claims that this new game is completely unrelated to the footage that we saw way back in January (which is a shame, too, because it looked awesome), there are a lot of other things to be excited about. For one, the game is going to be a sort of Ghostbusters 3, set in the early 90s, after the events of Ghostbusters 2. On top of that, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis are writing the script for the game, so it’ll be as authentic to a REAL sequel as possible. No word on the plot of the film yet, but one has to wonder if it will follow the same story as the proposed CGI Ghostbusters film that was in development a few years back.
Two versions of the game will be released: One for the PS2, Wii, and DS for the more casual gamer, and the real meat & potatoes version for PC, PS3, and Xbox360. The game is coming from the folks from Terminal Reality, the same company that brought you that great game (at least, I thought so) Nocturne for the PC back in 1999, and also those dreadful Blair Witch games.
Ghostbusters is set for release next fall.
