The last time we saw Gemma Arterton was last November in Quantum of Solace as Agent Fields, and now she has joined Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation) in Clash of the Titans. According to /film she will be playing Io, a priestess of Hera who will be the love interest of Worthington, who is playing Perseus.
Gemma seems to be getting herself in a lot of big movies recently, having just finished filming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Clash of the Titans is a remake of the 1981 epic and tells the story of Zeus’ son (Perseus) and his battles against mythology beasts such as Medusa. Filming will begin in 3 weeks time, and it will be directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk).

Liam Neeson had been cast as Zeus but following the heartbreaking death of his wife, Natasha Richardson, it’s not yet known whether he’s still available to do it.
