While the window between movies and their DVD/Blu-ray releases is getting smaller, the window for TV shows appears to be getting longer. HBO’s acclaimed Game of Thrones, based on author George R. R. Martin’s best-selling series of novels A Song of Ice and Fire, finished airing its first season in June, but so far no details on the DVD and Blu-ray release have been revealed.
The site also points to a Warner Bros. France promo video which advertises the release date as March 7th, so it looks like a few regions will be getting Game of Thrones in March. It’s quite a long wait, but it’ll get people pumped for the second season which will return in April.
I’ll update with the DVD/Blu-ray special features when they are released.
The second season of Games of Thrones is currently filming and is once again written by David Benioff (Troy) and D.B. Weiss. As well as the returning cast the season will also star Gwendoline Christie as the female warrior Brienne of Tarth, Liam Cunningham as the former smuggler Ser Davos Seaworth, Oliver Ford Davies as Maester Cressen, Stephen Dillane as would-be king and Robert’s brother, Stannis Baratheon and Carice van Houten as Melisandre of Asshai.
