In other Wolverine news TorrentFreak say that the unfinished version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that leaked onto the internet has been downloaded over a million times.
The unfinished workprint of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ that leaked just a few days ago has already made its way to the computers of more than a million BitTorrent users. Unsurprisingly, the film leads our weekly chart of the ten most downloaded movies on BitTorrent.
At the time of writing the film is also topping The Pirate Bay’s Top 100 most popular torrents and is listed among the most popular search terms on other torrent sites.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean the films box office will be disastrous.
Interestingly, most people think that the leak will actually do the movie good, as a poll among our readers indicates that 40% would be more excited to see it in the movie theater or on DVD, even if they had downloaded it. Only 6% of the respondents believe that the leak will be detrimental to the film’s success.
While the leak is illegal and should not be condoned, the fact that the movie is incomplete has caused people to be interested in seeing the finished version. The leak has also provided the film with publicity, as news of the leak was reported by news outlets worldwide.
Observing the box office takings in a months time will be interesting indeed.
