It was just announced that Bennett Miller’s (Moneyball, Capote) new drama Foxcatcher has been pushed back to sometime in 2014 from its initial release of date of December 20th. Although it may be a while until we see the actual film, you can get a feel of what to expect as the first footage from the movie has emerged online. Apparently the filmmaker’s need more time to finish the film, but some have suggested that Sony Pictures wants to hold off on the release to avoid the heavy competition from other Oscar contenders. Comedic actor Steve Carell portrays a mentally disturbed villain in the film, not a role which one would familiarize The Office star with. However, “word on the street” is that his performance is generating Best Actor buzz.

The true story of Olympic wrestling champion brothers Mark Schultz and Dave Schultz, and their relationship with the eccentric John du Pont, heir to the du Pont chemical fortune, that led to murder.
Steve Carell stars as John du Pont, alongside Channing Tatum as Mark Shultz, and Mark Ruffalo as Dave Shultz. The precise 2014 release date hasn’t been announced yet. Hopefully Sony will release Foxcatcher sooner rather than later, but if the studio decides to wait until next year’s Oscar race to debut the film, it could be a year out before audiences get to see it.
