And it will give you chills, at least it did in my case. So without further ado here’s the first official teaser trailer for next year’s Blade Runner 2049.
“Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
Making a sequel to a cult classic like Blade Runner, yeah, I don’t envy anyone involved in this production. But so far they appear to be on the right track. I mean they really seem to have nailed the tone of the original, music, look, which is fantastic. As far as what’s shown in the trailer (really not a lot), I noticed one detail at the end. Above the title Blade Runner 2049 Ryan Gosling’s name comes up before Harrison Ford’s. I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a lot more of the former than the latter. Also there’s another thing hardcore fans of the original might not like, but I won’t go into that because spoilers. All in all I’m looking forward to seeing more of Blade Runner 2049 in the coming months. Hopefully there will be a bit more story in the next trailer.
Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) directed while Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Logan, Alien: Covenant) penned the screenplay for Blade Runner 2049. Starring in the sequel are Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas and many others.
Blade Runner 2049 comes to theaters starting October 6th 2017 in the US and around the world.
