First look at Penelope Cruz in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Radar Online snapped 33 photos from the Hawaiian set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides which include our first look at Penelope Cruz in costume. The images also feature Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs.

Since Cruz joined the cast in February we learned that she will be playing the daughter of Blackbeard (Ian McShane). The official synopsis also revealed details on her character:

In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love–or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer said Cruz “brings a lot of humor to” the role and her character is “Sparrow’s foil and equal in many ways”.
