Those lucky enough to attend Comic-Con were treated to around 8 minutes of footage from Jon Favreau’s Cowboys and Aliens, however for the rest of us the first official image of Daniel Craig as cowboy Zeke Johnson will have to do instead.
The film also stars Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell and Noah Ringer and explores what would happen if the traditional Old West enemies – cowboys and Native Americans – found the prairie attacked by aliens in mid-1800s Arizona. Craig will be playing a gunslinger who is joined by a woman named Ella (Wilde), and together they attempt to take on the alien invasion.
Cowboys and Aliens was expected to be Favreau’s first 3D movie, however at Comic-Con today he revealed that the film will be shot and released in the traditional two dimensions, and he won’t be converting it into 3D during post-production.
Cowboys and Aliens will be released next July and was written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof (Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen).
