Finding Nemo sequel moving forward

finding nemo blu ray release date Image Andrew Stanton’s live action directing debut, John Carter, didn’t work out all that well when it was released earlier this year, but he’s won two Oscars for Wall-E and Finding Nemo so he’ll always have an open door at Pixar.

Returning to animation would be a wise move for the director, and it looks like he agrees as according to Deadline he’s signed on to direct Finding Nemo 2.

The original was released in 2003 and made over $850 million at the worldwide box office. With those numbers one would expect a sequel to be a priority, but at the time Pixar were happy to keep a stand-alone. Lately they’ve been a bit sequel-happy (Cars 2, Monsters University), so a sequel to one of their most successfully features was only a matter of time now that Stanton “has a concept the studio loves”.

Finding Nemo 3D will be released in September. Are you interested in seeing a Finding Nemo follow-up?

It’s a double edge sword for me. On one hand I love the characters and would gladly watch a sequel, but another part pf me would like to see new franchises.

Getting worried that they will become a sequel house like Disney was in the 90′s early 00′s. Everything does not need a sequel/prequel, pixar movies were good stories that stood on their own. That’s what made them stand out

Only reason they are sequel happy is coz of Disney!

These are characters that, due to their inherent technology and animation roots, never age… so revisiting them with new adventures will never cease. Look at Mater’s Tall Tales… the the tentpole character, Lightning McQueen is voice by another actor with similar VO chops. I am glad that we now have character that generations will enjoy. Oh, and they are so heavily invested, California Adventures, Animal Kingdom (musical), Art of Animation, Merch… another marketing vehicle, er film must be made
