Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel has hinted on his Facebook page that the next in the series, Fast and Furious 7, will begin filming this summer. The actor also revealed that there was a recent secret screening of Fast and Furious 6, and audience feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Here’s what Diesel had to say:
Random candid… There was an early screening in LA this week of Fast 6. The crowd reaction was surreal… and their demand for the continuation was powerful… It’s remarkable to think I first embodied this character in 1999… and the evolution continues. … P.s. Filming begins this summer in LA, where it all started… talk about a studio in sync with the audience… /smile
Since its high-profile revival in 2009 with Fast and Furious, this franchise has been a consistent money-spinner at the worldwide box-office, with Fast Five grossing $626 million in 2011. Factor in the popularity of Dwayne Johnson, who joined the cast in Fast Five, and it’s a no-brainer as to why Universal is already pushing forward with the seventh film.
Fast and the Furious 6 is due for release in the US and UK on 24th May 2013.
Here’s the synopsis:
After the events of Fast Five, professional criminal Dominic Toretto and his crew are wealthy, but their criminal records prevent them from returning to their home country. Following his attempts to apprehend them, Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agent Luke Hobbs offers the crew a deal; he will give them all full pardons for their crimes if they help him take down a lethally skilled mercenary organization led by a criminal mastermind and his ruthless second-in-command, Dominic’s thought-dead lover Letty Ortiz.
The film stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Paul Walker, Gina Carano, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris Bridges and Elsa Pataky.
