With Insidious director James Wan in talks to take over from Justin Lin as director, Universal has announced Fast and Furious 7 will be released July 11, 2014. That means there will be just over a year between sequels as Fast And Furious 6 opens this May.
Apparently Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson are all set to return, and filming will begin this summer. Dwayne Johnson recently expressed doubt on his availability as he’s set to shoot Brett Ratner Hercules this year, which could cause scheduling conflicts.
No other movie is set for July 11, 2014 so Fast and Furious 7 has no direct competition as of yet, however Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent opens a week earlier and X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled for the week after.
