Comicbook Movie have hinted that 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot has entered pre-production and could begin shooting this coming September in Vancouver. The news came from a Twitter source, known as Lindsay, who is based near the proposed shooting location, but according to Comicbook Movie, the source seems legitimate.
Here’s the scoop:
A Tweet from a Vancouver native which was backed up by OLV suggests that Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot has entered pre-production for a September shoot in Canada. If this is on the level, surely casting announcements are not far away?
We know Josh Trank will direct and Mathew Vaughn will produce, but aside from that we don’t know too much else about the Fantastic Four reboot other than it’s set for a March 15, 2015 release. Well now me may also know where and roughly when it will be shooting.
We’re pretty sure this is legit, but are currently doing some digging to confirm. If it is expect some more official announcements regarding the project pretty soon.
It’s not surprising that Fox want to fast-track this project and cash in on the superhero movie buzz that’s dominated the global box-office in recent years, and this year will be no exception. However, there have been virtually no updates on the script re-writes by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and even less on casting.
David Tennant did recently express an interest in the role of Mr Fantastic/Reed Richards, though it does seem to be hearsay at this point.
The Fantastic Four reboot is currently scheduled for release on 6th March 2015, though it could be brought forward a few months if this shooting schedule is accurate.
