The Fate of the Furious is the official new title of the 8th installment in the Fast and Furious franchise. Watch the first trailer for the darker chapter below.
So I guess Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto turns bad in this one and the whole team goes after him. Now either Cipher (Charlize Theron) has his sister (or nephew) locked up somewhere and that’s how she’s making him betray the team, or this thing makes no sense. After the very family focused 7th chapter, The Fate of the Furious seems like a big departure.
At least they’re trying new things and this could be an intriguing new direction for the series. But for it to work the movie has to have a very good reason for Toretto’s betrayal. Aside from that the action sequences looked good, as you’d expect from the series. Also Jason Statham is back and he is somehow part of the team, which should be fun. At the end of the day if you were into the previous ones (and I was), you’ll probably enjoy this one too, even if it’s sadly missing a key player who left way too soon in 2013.
Straight Outta Compton‘s F. Gary Gray directed The Fate of the Furious and Chris Morgan (Furious 7) wrote it. Starring in the new film are Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Lucas Black, Jordana Brewster and many others.
The Fate of the Furious races to the big screen on April 14th 2017 in the US and around the world.
