Imagine a world where fantasy creatures like Orcs and Elves live side by side with humans, in modern day LA. That’s Bright, directed by David Ayer and starring Will Smith.
“Set in a world where mystical creatures live side by side with humans. A human cop is forced to work with an Orc to find a weapon everyone is prepared to kill for.”
Yes, you read that correctly, Bright is coming to Netflix this December. I’m pretty sure this is by far their most expensive movie yet, carrying a $90 million budget. The question is who’s taking the bigger risk here, Netflix spending this much on a single film or Will Smith starring in something that won’t have a theatrical release. Probably Netflix, but at the same time I believe almost everyone with a Netflix subscription will want to check this one out in December. Since filming only wrapped earlier this month we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get a better look at Bright. For now what was shown in this very short teaser looks, let’s say intriguing.
David Ayer (Fury, Suicide Squad) directed Bright and Max Landis (Chronicle) wrote the screenplay, one that was apparently retouched quite a bit by Ayer. Starring in the film are Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Edgar Ramirez and many others.
