Emma Watson will forever be known as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter franchise (ten years in the same role has that effect) but the actress has now signed onto her first post-Potter role following the completion of filming on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
According to The Daily Mail Watson will join Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Dominic Cooper and Judi Dench in My Week With Marilyn, an indie film which tells the story of Colin Clark (Redmayne) who worked as Laurence Olivier’s assistant on the movie The Prince And The Showgirl, which starred Marilyn Monroe (Williams) and Olivier (Branagh). Clark wrote a diary that charted nine days of close contact with Monroe, with whom he was smitten.
Emma Watson will play Lucy, a wardrobe assistant working behind the scenes during the making of The Prince And The Showgirl in 1956. The role is only a small one, but it’s magic-free and she will be surrounded by a talented cast. I can see Watson taking roles in a few smaller films over the next few years while she completes her University work.
