Elizabeth Olsen has confirmed her involvement in the forthcoming Godzilla reboot during an interview with Absolute Radio on the BAFTA 2013 red carpet. She will join Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the monster movie, which is currently awaiting Frank Darabont’s (The Mist, The Green Mile and TV’s The Walking Dead) revised script.
The actress, who was nominated for the EE Rising Star award, told Absolute Radio, “It’s definitely not lighthearted”, she also claimed that the film will be “going back to its roots of the original Japanese film.”

Speculation about the actress’ involvement in the project has been rife in recent weeks and this confirmation signifies a very fresh take on the franchise, which has spanned over half a century.
Sci-fi is enjoying a huge spike in popularity in recent years and the demand for a truly epic adaptation of the iconic Japanese monster movies has been huge ever since Roland Emmerich’s disappointing instalment in 1998.
Godzilla is due for release in the US and UK on 16th May 2014. Bryan Cranston (TV’s Breaking Bad) is also currently in talks to join the project.
