Female driven sex comedies have become more prominent following the smash success of Bridesmaids back in 2011. However no recent film of that ilk has managed to recapture the box office magic of Bridesmaids – just ask What’s Your Number? with Anna Faris and The To Do List with Aubrey Plaza. Now Elizabeth Banks will try her hand at getting into awkward sexual encounters for our enjoyment in the new comedy Walk of Shame.
Here’s the trailer:
After losing an audition for her dream job, an aspiring Los Angeles TV news anchor goes out for an uncharacteristic night of partying. She awakes in a stranger’s bed to a phone message from her agent telling her the job is hers, if she can make it across town by 5 pm. Stranded in an unknown area without money, a phone, and a car, she embarks on a series of misadventures as she races to the most important job interview of her life.
Best known for her supporting roles in movies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Pitch Perfect and most notably The Hunger Games, this is Banks’ first time as headliner. Can she pull a career surge like Kristen Wiig or will Walk of Shame fall into obscurity with the rest of the post Bridesmaids female-centric comedies? We’ll find out when Walk of Shame is released on April 25th.
Written and directed by Steven Brill (Mr. Deeds, Drillbit Taylor), the comedy also stars James Marsden, Gillian Jacobs, Ethan Suplee, Sarah Wright, Oliver Hudson, Bill Burr and Kevin Nealon.
