According to Deadline British screenwriter Drew Pearce will work with director Shane Black to write the script for Iron Man 3.
Pearce wrote the script for Marvel’s Runaways, however that movie was put on hold last October as Marvel wanted to focus on its other big franchises instead. They still intend to make it with Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) directing, but it will likely be post-The Avengers.
Shane Black, who directed Robert Downey Jr. in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in 2005 and was behind the scripts for Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout, recently said Iron Man 3 will be more like a Tom Clancy-thriller, with Iron Man fighting real world villains, and will not feature any other heroes from the Marvel Universe.
Marvel and Disney have set a May 3rd 2013 release date for the third film, which means Robert Downey Jr. will be suiting up for the fourth time sometime in 2012. The actor will begin filming The Avengers in May.
