Summit Entertainment have released the first teaser trailer for Divergent. The trailer aired during the MTV VMAs and it is now online for all to see. The movie, directed by Neil Burger, stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James and is set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities.
Kate Winslet has finally entered franchise territory and plays Jeanine Matthews, a villain who is the leader of Erudite, one of the five factions in the world of Divergent. Summit/Lionsgate are hoping Divergent gets similar attention to The Hunger Games as there are two further novels written by author Veronica Roth. Insurgent was released last year and Allegiant will go on sale in October.
