According to THR Denis Leary is in negotiations to join the cast of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot. Leary is in line for the role of George Stacy, the father of Gwen Stacey who will be played by Emma Stone in the film.
This will be Leary’s first live-action movie since 2002 as he has been starring in drama Rescue Me since 2004. Although, the actor has provided the voice for Diego the sabertooth in all the Ice Age movies and will be back for Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Leary will be joining a cast that includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Rhys Ifans as the Lizard, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Sally Field as Aunt May. Filming is expected to begin next month, so we will likely be getting more secondary character casting news over the next few weeks. They seem to have cast all the main characters now (and an impressive cast it is).
