David Goyer Talks ‘Batman 3′

281x211 With the success of The Dark Knight there’s a good chance Christopher Nolan, David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan will be getting a phone call from Warner Bros. some time soon asking them to free up their schedule and start thinking about ‘Batman 3′, ‘The Dark Knight 2′ or whatever you want to call it until an official title is announced. Luckily for Warner Bros, David Goyer and co have already been talking about it.

“I think that’s the scariest thing – to think, could we come up with a third movie that was as good as the first two? Can we top ourselves?” screenwriter David Goyer asked aloud, almost rhetorically, in a recent conversation with MTV News. “Doing it a third time would be a big proposition.”

Make no mistake about it, though, a third film HAS been discussed, Goyer confessed, revealing that, while nothing is concrete, both a villain and a theme have been bandied about.

“We’ve only talked loosely about it, though, Chris and I,” Goyer said

The fact that Goyer has a theme he wants to keep in mind for a possible “Batman 3? means he also has a direction, a crisis, and, yes, a villain.

So what is it?

“I have one,” Goyer said laughing. “But I’m not going to tell you. Chris is very particular about that.

“I do think, though, that if there’s not a third film – these two movies stand on their own,” he added. “I think it could go either way.”

Where do you want the third movie to go?

kudos to the makers of Dark Knight for their record breaking opening weekend… it's no wonder there's talk of another one coming out ASAP

Batman 3… if it is a trilogy in the sense of coming full-circle.. then it would make sense to return to the league of shadows ..and it becomes known that even the joker was manufactured as a criminal genius they unleashed on gotham… Ryan Gosling would be a good choice for the role of joker… people die, if your team's 1st baseman dies, he is replaced… They made another Crow movie.. the Grateful Dead still play without Jerry Garcia… we all die. More on the plot, perhaps the league knows of bruce's dual identity, so they torment him by murdering everyone close to him… Gorden, Alfred… perhaps using an assassin like Bane, or even better, Catwoman. It was his parents death that drove Bruce's quest for justice.. it was the league that used economic tactics to create a depression that led to the thief killing Bruce's parents… if you explain even the Joker as a league tactic, then that led to the death of Rachel.. so for the part 1 of this movie Batman against this rogue assasin, perhaps with a small army that torments him and gotham… Batman defeats this assasin and army – and if it were catwoman, then that would add more drama.. Bruce being responsible for the death of his love interest. But it wouldn't end there… in a moral dilema, Batman chooses to spring the Joker, now housed like Hannibal Lecter on death row. Why? Because the Joker knows who leads the league, and where he might be …and the Joker also wants to avenge the league (that's who really gave him his scars). And next comes the climax… Batman, having lost everyone, and left only to partner with his archetype… both created under the same system… both now fighting the same enemy. So it ends with Batman finally bringing justice to the shadowy league that has pulled the strings… Not sure about who would be the ultimate kingpin here, where the climax would be… what I'd title the movie … but that's the plot.

    Cheers mates

P.S. Comments…. TDK was okay, but BatmanBegins was better, and V for Vendetta was the best super-hero comic book turned movie (I know it's a gr aphic novel, but it was still a bloak in a cape and mask) …but Ledger's Joker was the best villian.

Next, if you are going to give Batman guns on his vehicles, the give Batman a gun… that is just stupid.

Benicio Del Toro would make a good joker if at all the Joker is brought back in the third instalment.

Batman3plot had the right idea of having the movie returning to the league of shadows. But, they could have a backstory of Azrael (since Chrispher Nolan likes surprise twists) being a younger stepbrother to Bruce Wayne. Which was fathered secretly and taught by Henri Ducard. Villians, Johnny Depp as The Riddler, and Azrael (Nightwing). Azrael having a diffrerent personality (violent) since the death of their parents. At the end of the movie, the full circle of Nightwing.
