Earlier today Peter Jackson and some of The Hobbit cast took part in a live-cast fan event, and a new three-minute trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was revealed during the process. It’s darker than the previous ones, and I actually think it’s the best one to date.
Watch the trailer below:
The second in a trilogy of films adapting “The Hobbit,” by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Evangeline Lilly, Benedict Cumberbatch, Luke Evans and Stephen Fry are among the cast.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be released December 2013, followed by The Hobbit: There and Back Again December 2014.
