IESB were at a press thing for Quantum of Solace and one of the questions they asked Daniel Craig was whether he would be interested in doing something a little different character-wise, such as Thor…
Craig said no, he turned it down and laughed about it.
IESB continued, “seriously, I heard the folks over at Marvel had you on a short list to be Thor.”
Craig said yes they [Marvel] did approach him but he turned it down. He added jokingly, it would have been too much of a power trip, both Bond and Thor, and running around with long hair and a hammer.
I could see it working in the face department, but Craig doesn’t have the build to play Thor. As a matter of fact I don’t know many actors who would meet the physical requirements for the part. Whoever they cast will need to have a lot of work done, whether it be adding height or bulking them up.
At least we now know Marvel are actively looking for their leading man. I just hope the other actors on that short list don’t laugh them off like Craig did.
