frankly i dont care how long a movie goes for as long as its good. i love the golden compass, i really wanted to see the ending but New Line Cinema had to take it out because the “test” audience didn't “like” it. just becasue it didn't perform well at the US doesn;t mean a sequel shouldn't be made.with all the religious protests going on now, i truly believe that warner brothers will not be afraid to make the subtle knife if they are going to.

i know a script has been made, now they are just waiting (dont really know what forthough). As long as the earth still spins, dakota blue richards(lyra) is still growing up. if she gets to old to play lyra for the subtle knife, and if the deleted ending is going to end up for the beginning of the subtle knife, things will just look retarded with a 12 year old lyra in the beginning of the movie and a 16 year old lyra finishing off the movie.

This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time and I've watched it 3 times. I find this film to be mystical, spiritual, thoughtful, full of wisdom on so many levels, … it speaks to the child (if it is still alive) in any adult. I love the symbolism that is threaded throughout the movie on so many levels… the reference to metaphysics… to the soul and the self… to the power of free will… the battles between our own fears and the lessons to be learned in facing our own personal fears. I cannot say enough about this movie and am very disappointed to hear that will not be a sequel. This movie has spiritual implications that parallel with the Star War series, in my opinion. I applaud the writers, the producer, director and the wonderful voices and actors.

the film was wicked loved it. havent read the book and to anyone saying "well the books much better"….. ….. well obviously they nearly always are, when compared to films which were out at the same time and pitched to the same audience, like bridge to terebithia, stardust etc, this was by far the best im my opinion sequal needed definatly and ifg NLC are pissed it didnt make money then they are to blame fro sellign the rights and pitchign it to the wrong market. lets hope that Deborah is a woman of her word!

my hubby and i want the sequels to be made, we are both in our late 20's and really enjoyed watching the golden compass…. we felt it could have had more detail in it but other than that it was a wonderful fantasy/adventure movie!!!!

I believe that new line messed up in changing the ending. I believe they should have stuck with the ending from the book. You know where Lyra meets her father and he uses Roger to open the portal to the other dimensions. The ending was way far better and left more suspension as to what would happen to Lyra and Lord Asriel. I also believe that the should have left the ice path that happen before Bolvanger in the movie to the end before Asrial used Roger to open the portal. It so would have make a better effect. I believe that is a big problem with the movie. People also thought that it would be longer than 1 hour and 43 minutes. It should have at least be 2 hour and 20 minutes worth. So they could fit more parts in it. I had a friend of mine who was watching it keep asking about parts of it cause there was not enough info about certain things. I thought it would have been longer due to how much there was in the book. kind of like harry potter or Pirates of the Carribean. Pirates was at least two and a half hours and it was awesome. So I know warner bros will probably do better. Please don’t abondon this movie. My friend and I are already looking forward to the Subtle Knife.
