When Disney bought Marvel last year for $4 billion it opened up the opportunity for a Pixar/Marvel collaboration. Characters such as Iron Man work just fine in a live-action environment (and hopefully Thor and Captain America do too), but for some characters the Pixar route may be a suitable alternative.
In June Marvel hired Conan scribes Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to write a Dr. Strange movie, and a new bit of speculation suggests Pixar may be getting involved.
“I was over in Hollywood earlier this year mooching about, and I had a meeting at Disney and the conversation drifted around to Pixar animating a Dr. Strange movie.”
It’s not a lot but it could mean discussions are taking place. Pixar has dabbled in superheroes before with The Incredibles, but characters such as Dr. Strange aren’t heart-warming family characters which Pixar has built itself on. Perhaps a slight shift in direction could open up a whole new genre for Pixar.
Do you think Dr. Strange would work as a Pixar movie? Or should they stick with live-action?
