After making quite the debut in Captain America: Civil War last year, Black Panther returns in early 2018 in his very own solo movie. This is the first official teaser trailer.
“After the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, T’Challa returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”
After this teaser I can say this much about Black Panther, it looks like nothing we’ve seen so far from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s good since after 15 movies (17 by the time this comes out) things can get a bit repetitive. I love the blending of very advanced technology and African culture on display here. Now let’s hope Black Panther delivers in the story department too.
Creed‘s Ryan Coogler directed and co-wrote the screenplay for Black Panther with Joe Robert Cole. Starring in the superhero flick are Chadwick Boseman, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and many others.
Black Panther opens February 16th 2018 in the US and around the world.
