Following the success of Chronicle earlier this year director Josh Trank was offered quite a few studio projects. A Fantasic Four reboot for 20th Century Fox, a Venom spin-off at Sony, and a movie adaptation of the video game Shadow of the Colossus (also at Sony).
Now according to Deadline Trank has finally decided what his next movie will be, as he’s officially signed on to direct the Fantastic Four.
The reboot will be Fox’s next superhero movie following The Wolverine and X-Men: First Class 2, so expect production details and a release date to be set soon.
The success of X-Men: First Class and recent box office performance of The Amazing Spider-Man shows audiences are happy to accept different takes on well-known superhero properties if they are taken seriously and well made. Fox are now hoping to replicate that success with the Fantastic Four reboot, and Chronicle director Josh Trank may be the one to help them do that.
