We have all assumed this for a while, but with Christopher Nolan being Christopher Nolan he has never officially confirmed that he will be directing Batman 3. During promotion for Inception he only gave details on how the script is progressing, but today he finally gave the biggest indication yet that he will be in the directors chair (even though we know he will be).
“It’s becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way,” says Nolan. “I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing so… If I haven’t announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it.”
Hang on, that’s not 100% clear: so we can safely assume you’re directing?
“I think you can at this point, yes.”
In related news, Michael Caine appeared on BBC Radio 1‘s The Chris Moyles Show recently and said the movie will “probably start in May next year”. Warner Bros. has already set a July 2012 release, so things will progress over the next few months.
