Channing Tatum will not be Thor but did meet with director

channing-tatumBack in February we saw a casting call for Thor which asked for actors who were in their 20’s, six feet tall or above, and capable of playing a lead. Since then we’ve been seeing names pop up who fit that criteria, such as Josh Hartnett, Alexander Skarsgård and Channing Tatum. Marvel have yet to make an announcement as to who will actually be playing Thor, although we can now rule Tatum out as he revealed to MTV that he is no longer in the running for the part.

“I think they’re looking for someone more Nordic-looking,” Tatum told MTV News during a press event for his new film, “Fighting.” However, Tatum confirmed that he had indeed been interested in the part, and even met with director Kenneth Branagh about donning the golden locks and toting the mythical hammer.

Marvel recently pushed Thor back a year, from 2010 to June 2011, so even if they do have their Thor there is no rush to announce it just yet (although knowing would be cool).
