Last month we heard that Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the duo behind Crank, Crank: High Voltage, and Gamer, had entered early negotiations with Columbia to direct Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
Nicolas Cage was also in talks at the time, however while appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson Cage confirmed that he had just “made the deal today” and Neveldine and Taylor will indeed be directing.

Apparently Columbia has to begin production on another Ghost Rider movie by November 14th 2010, otherwise the rights will revert back to Marvel. This means filming will probably begin over the next few months. David Goyer has been working on the script and he previously mentioned that the film is set 8 years after the first one, and is a “bit more stripped down and darker”.
