After a swift director change X-Men: Days of Future Past is moving along nicely with X1 and X2 director Bryan Singer at the helm. Earlier this week the director updated his Twitter account and revealed full pre-production on the film is now under-way, and filming may take place in Montreal, Canada.
Here are Singer’s tweets:
Well here goes. Beginning full prep on Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited!

X-Men: First Class was shot primarily in England, however the original trilogy was mostly shot in Canada (X1 in Toronto, X2 and X3 in Vancouver). Red 2 and Roland Emmerich’s White House Down have been based in Montreal while filming, so it seems to be a popular location for studios at the moment.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is now expected to begin shooting in April, which gives Singer plenty of time to prep and the July 2014 release date means production won’t be as rushed as First Class. Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult will return, and it’s just a case of waiting for news on which cast members from the original trilogy will be involved (Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry are possibilities).
The Days of Future Past comic storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps.
