I thought waiting two years for James Cameron’s Avatar was long enough, well now I’ll just have to wait longer. 20th Century Fox have announced that they will be pushing Avatar back until 18th December so they have longer to work on the post production. They are probably doing this just in case Cameron and WETA need more time to finish the amazing effects they are working on. It also gives time for more 3D screens to be put in place.

“Making this change more than two years out allows Weta to achieve this unparalleled cinematic feat with the most efficient completion of the digital effects,”

Avatar was originally going to be released on May 22nd. 3D Pixar movie Monsters vs. Aliens even moved its release date so it didn’t clash with Avatar. Another interesting fact is that James Cameron’s Titanic was released on the same day back in 1997.

Fox have filled in the gap with the Night Of The Museum sequel, and Wolverine is still on target for the beginning of May.
