Hey Liam….great article. Here's my take: Avatar will certainly cross the 1 billion dollar mark by this coming Monday. Secondly, I think there are still tons of people who have yet to see it. The reason it is at 726 million in 12 days is largely from repeat viewers, and the people they've taken with them to see it. Also, IMAX theaters have been sold out consistently even through today! Therefore there's still people who want to see it IMAX but haven't yet had the opportunity yet. I believe Avatar hasn't even done half of it's business yet. In addition, count on at least another $300 million or so from the markets that haven't opened yet.

I'm sticking to my guns – an Avatar sequel is like eating too much candy. I want to see a new Cameron flick; where can he take us now? I've already seen the beauty of Avatar, what conflict would they invent for a second or third movie? I'm arguing against it on artistic grounds, not business grounds – I understand how trite and timid the movie industry is right now and how they only want to pump up successful movies into franchises. I think unneeded sequels rob us of a chance to experience new stories.

well i personally loved the film. But i think a 2nd and 3rd could have potential. That is if they put a lot of time in it. Not as much as the first is needed, but diffidently awhile. If they don't screw it up.

I'm looking forward to Avatar 2. :3 I think James Cameron's going to listen to what the few negative reviews had to say, and improve the story. Combined with the sheer prettiness of Pandora and the awesome CG work, plus a possible great story.. :3 It'll be a winner.

If I had to sit through Harry stupid potter 2, Lord of the stupid precious Ring 2, Spiderman 2, batman 2, and the remake of Star Wars 2, you can sit through another round of AVATAR and continue to make this movie the most successful movie, not sci-fi movie, but successful movie in HISTORY. Do you really think millions are wrong and you are right? HA HA HA More than $600 million made totaled and counting. Avatar is the best movie ever made. If you are looking for an award winning script or plot, try a chick flick and don't forget to hold your neighbors hand when you cry.
