We Have A New Incredible Hulk Trailer!

I’ve got so used to The Dark Knight’s recent viral campaign that I forgot that trailers can just appear online. Just like that…online. No running around cities in the dark looking for clues. It’s just here!

Below you will see a new trailer for The Incredible Hulk, which is much better than the first one. We get to see more of the story, more action, more effects. I am actually looking forward to this movie now!

Coolness: Ian McKellen On Extras

So Sir Ian McKellen will be putting on the robe yet again in The Hobbit. However, it has been more than 5 years since he last played the wizard. Will be be able to get back into the ‘Gandalf zone’?

Luckily, Ian McKellen gave some vital information on TV about how to prepare for the role. All he has to do is watch this back and he is sorted!

Sir Ian McKellen Confirms He Will Be Back As Gandalf!

Great news for Lord of The Rings fans! Although it was assumed Ian McKellen would be picking up his staff once again for The Hobbit, it has now been confirmed by the good man himself. The same mouth that bellowed the words ‘You shall not pass!’, spoke to Empire at the Speed Racer premiere in London. (Imagine that, Gandalf watching Speed Racer)

“Yes, it’s true,” he said. “I spoke to Guillermo in the very room that Peter Jackson offered me the part and he confirmed that I would be reprising the role. Obviously, it’s not a part that you turn down, I loved playing Gandalf.”

So he’s happy to be back in the robes again?

“We talk occasionally and he’s looking forward to coming out of retirement, yes,” he said. “Guillermo will be getting around to starting the script in about six weeks when he’s finished filming Hellboy 2.”

The major question on everybody’s lips is what are they going to do with the second film, which takes place directly after The Hobbit and before Fellowship of the Ring?

“Well I’ve read The Hobbit so I’ve got a good idea of what the story would be,” said McKellen. “But as to how it’s going to work over two films and what going to happen on screen, well Guillermo has not got down to working out the major details yet – I can tell you it’s going to be amazing though.”

McKellen also spoke about the Magneto movie which may be on the cards.

“They are making a Magneto spin-off but I don’t think it will involve me because it’s about the younger Magneto, it’s a back-story.”

But surely with the anti-aging special effects employed in the third X-Men film he could well reprise the role, at least for a cameo?

“Would I be willing to return to play a young Magneto? A cameo in my own movie? I don’t think so,” he said. “I don’t think I could get away with playing a 19-year-old.”

Marvel Get Their Laywers Out Over TechCrunch Iron Man Screening

There’s some legal shiz going on over at TechCrunch.com! Yesterday the site wrote the following:

CrunchGear and TechCrunch are hosting a special event tomorrow, April 30 (Wednesday) in San Francisco - a special screening of the movie Iron Man, two days before the official May 2 release.

We’ve rented out the largest theater we could find in the area - The AMC Metreon in San Francisco, which will hold 600 people. Everyone is welcome to attend, and the movie starts at 7:15 pm (you can arrive as early as 6:30).

That’s cool right? Well not according to Marvel and their legal team:

Marvel has sent us a cease and desist letter demanding that we cancel the Iron Man event tomorrow at the AMC Metreon in San Francisco. We are not canceling the event yet - stay tuned as our lawyers work this out.

Just to be clear, we paid the full ticket price for every seat and are fully authorized to do this. This is unbelievable and stupid in so many ways, and goes right to the top of the list of moronic legal moves against us. And he even ends the note with a “please don’t print” message.

Update: Just spoke to Althoff. He’s serious. And threatening lots of further action. He mentioned “public safety.”

Update 2: Just for the record, we began the whole process by calling the group sales phone number on the official Iron Man movie site, and worked directly with Paramount on the screening.

Update 3: As of right now, AMC is telling Marvel where to stick it, and the show is still on. More in the morning.

I can see where Marvel are coming from, I mean the site is called TechCrunch, there are lots of tech savvy people who will be going to the screening. Hollywood fears technology, because technology means that someone from the other side of the world can see a movie within hours of it being released. The last thing Marvel wants are 600 bootleg versions of Iron Man appearing online for thousands of people to watch days before the movie is actually released. I am pretty sure Marvel would have no problem at all if The Priests and Nuns Association were holding the same event.

Another reason Marvel may be concerned is down to the fact that TechCrunch gets well over 1 million visitors a month. TechCrunch are basically inviting thousands of people to an event that can only hold 600. If there are 300 people who get turned away it will obviously cause chaos, protests, carnage and death.

There could be other reasons, and I am sure there are. Paramount did not have a problem with it, however Marvel do. I am sure we will find out the outcome of all of this soon.

Jonah Hill Joining The Cast Of Transformers 2?

Jonah HillAccording to Entertainment Weekly, Superbad actor Jonah Hill is in talks to play the sidekick of Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky.

Jonah Hill is in early negotiations to costar opposite Shia LaBeouf in Transformers 2 for DreamWorks and Paramount. Hill (Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) will provide the comic relief as a sidekick to Shia’s Sam Witwicky. (A source tells EW.com that he’ll play Sam’s college roommate, but DreamWorks won’t confirm.) The sequel is set to begin shooting this summer.

I was hoping Transformers 2 would be going down the more serious route, and it still may do. However, it always annoys me when actors like Jonah Hill are put in movies like Transformers. It keeps reminding you that what are watching is still a movie, and that actor you see in front of you was in Superbad. I had the same feeling when Shia LaBeouf popped up in Charlies Angels: Full Throttle (yes I saw that). It’s just typical Hollywood. No doubt Jonah will be playing a slightly more scared version of his character Seth in Superbad, but it will probably make everyone laugh. So yay for fun!

New Hulk Pics!

Yahoo! have posted some new pictures from The Incredible Hulk. There are new shots of Liv Tyler as Betty, Abdominal looking angry and The Hulk looking angrier, so much so, that he is throwing cars around.

New Dark Knight Outdoor Artwork!

We got 5 new posters yesterday, and now we have another one to add to the mix. This one is outdoor artwork that will be shown in Hong Kong. The image below does not do it justice, so you will have to click to get a large version!

In other Dark Knight news, viral campaigning in a number of cities last night meant that 300 people at each location got to see to see a brand new trailer. There were a number of bootleg crappy quality trailers floating around YouTube, however Warner Bros have had them removed. Check back on Sunday to see the new trailer in HD!

Hugh Jackman Says He Would Play Wolverine Another Ten or Eleven Times!

WolverineI wouldn’t really call myself a Wolverine fan, but then again I don’t participially hate him. The character is overused, and overshadows some of the other interesting characters in the X-Men world (see the recent X-Men, or should I say Wolverine, trilogy). Despite this, I am looking forward to X-Men Origins: Wolverine because A) It has X-Men in the title and B) What we have seen so far is looking good.

Jackman has recently been on a publicity spree promoting his new movie, Deception. This obviously brought up Wolverine questions, as he still has the facial hair due to ongoing filming in Australia. MTV asked him a few questions, and he answered with some rather interesting stuff. He talks about the tone of the film, saying it is similar to that of Batman Begins. He also talks about further Wolverine movies. Read it below!

“It feels different,” Hugh Jackman told us recently about “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” which he’s currently shooting with eyes towards a May 2009 release. “But I don’t think its going be night and day.”

After being the breakout character in three blockbuster mutant flicks, Logan will try and set a spin-off blueprint that could eventually yield a “Magneto” movie and more. “We are dealing with a character who is probably one of the darker comic book characters ever created,” Jackman said of the flick, which co-stars Liev Schreiber, Dominic Monaghan and Ryan Reynolds. “The movie has a lot of fun elements, but there are layers of pain and darkness to this character.”

“Tonally, I would put it more in the ‘Batman Begins’ sort of realm,” he said, distancing the flick from past “X-Men” movies. “That’s sort of where we’re headed.”

And if Jackman has his way, “Origins” won’t be the last time we see him wielding adamantium claws. “There are two conditions for me doing any more: One is will anybody want to see it, and the second is: Will I still have the passion for it?” he explained. “I really wanted to do this spin-off movie, because I felt we hadn’t truly found who this character was.”

“Right now,” Jackman added, fueling hope for the fanboys, “I feel like I could do another ten or eleven.”

The chances of us getting a Wolverine 11: He Still Hasn’t A Damn Clue Who He Is is unlikely. However, it does suggest that if X-Men Origins: Wolverine does well at the box office, we will get more. Personally, I think getting four movies focusing on Wolverine is more than enough, a whole new trilogy will just get boring, unless of course, Origins is amazing. We’ll have to wait until May 2009 to find out!
